Voice and audio recorder
Resco Audio Recorder is a complete audio recorder and player, with support for WAV, MP3, OGG Vorbis, Speex, and RAF formats. It offers a complete software solution for recording voice and audio content – including a very usable function as a recorder of telephone calls.
The interface appears to be Apple-inspired which is fine if that’s what best suits the application and here it does. There is an adjustable equalizer which makes sure you can get the best possible audio quality from every recording even with the ability of filtering out unwanted background noise. One nice feature is the alarm setting which allows you to wake-up each day to a tune of your choice rather than the ringing of bells. There is a powerful file manager which allows you to create, rename, delete, copy and reorganize all your audio files and the ‘auto play’ option means all selected titles will be played without you having to choose them. This is not as good as a shuffle option though. There are a number of these apps around now, the question is do you want to change. Resco is definitely worth trying, then you can decide.
One button recording – map an application HW button to “Start recording” action along with activating “Use record button to launch Audio Recorder and start recording”. Recording music or speech, with respect to quality, length, portability or power consumption:
- MP3 — The most popular audio format ever. Widely supported by all platforms. Ideal trade off between quality and hardware requirements.
- Ogg Vorbis — Alternative to MP3 with higher quality, but requires faster PDA.
- Speex — Outstanding speech compression ratio, but also needs fast device.
- WAV — Lossless quality, low hardware requirements, but huge memory consumption.
- RAF — Minimal hardware requirements, minimal energy consumption, compresstion ratio 4:1.
