Total conversion for Star Wars: EAW
Republic at War Mod is a free mod by the Republic at War Mod Team for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption, an expansion for the RTS game Star Wars: Empire at War. This utility is an overhaul, replacing the Empire with the Republic and the Rebel Alliance with the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
Aside from replacing the playable factions, Republic at War Mod also has a long list of new features that further expand the gameplay experience. Some of the primary features include a rewritten AI that is more aggressive and scalable clone units.
Among the best EAW mods
Republic at War Mod is one of the best mods, if not the best, for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption. Its grand scope, the roster of features, and excellent polish make it a must-try for anyone who enjoyed the base game, especially Star Wars fans. One of its allures is its focus on the theatrical films and content from the Clone Wars series.
The rewritten AI is more aggressive, which means you no longer have to wait a long time for it to do anything. It adds a wide variety of new models to improve realism and immersion. Units will carry different weapons and equipment. The mod has a total of 66 planets, each having its own unique model. Shipyards have replaced the space stations and players can now hire mercenaries and pirates.
The mod also adds tons of higher-quality visuals and sound effects to significantly enhance the presentation. There are over 50 new SFX, particle effects have been redone, and character models have more polygons and higher-resolution skins. Overall, the mod elevates the game in every aspect yet it’s not perfect. The CIS faction can feel overpowered and can benefit from more balancing.
Strongly recommended
The features discussed above are just some of the major additions Republic at War Mod provides. That being said, it is a huge mod, and learning the ropes can be a bit challenging. Fortunately, the mod has an excellent manual that eases this problem. It’s an excellent mod every fan of the base game should try, despite some minor balancing issues.
