Record your Minecraft game

Replay is a free modification for Minecraft that allows users to create great-looking videos of their game without using screen capturing software. This game utility can capture hours of your game and even allows you to edit them without installing additional video editing programs.

The mod captures everything you do while playing. Not only that but the recordings are also saved in a lightweight format. Note, however, that Replay Mod doesn’t record in-game sounds. You need to use software, such as Audacity, and sync them into the video if you want to include background sound into your video recording.

How does Replay Mod work?

With the Replay Mod, you can create slick-looking Minecraft videos quickly and easily. By default, the mod is turned on for both single-player and multiplayer. All you have to do is open up a world or server and start playing. There is an overlay on your screen, which tells you that the recording is ongoing. The video captured will automatically be saved once you log off or exit the world.

You can then view your replay file by going to the replay viewer. If you’re familiar with keyframe animation, editing your clip will be simple. You can choose two different times in the recorded video and then positions where you want the camera in that time frame. You can also modify your flying speed to make the movement slower or faster, and you can spectate other entities in the video.

Replay Mod requires Forge for Minecraft 1.12 and below, and Fabric for Minecraft 1.14 and above. It also requires FFmpeg to render your edited replays. If you are new to using mods, installing the app will be tricky as it needs extra setup work. Moreover, getting used to all its features requires a bit of practice. However, the efforts you exert are all worth it.

Final thoughts

Overall, Replay is a great addition to an already well-loved game. With this modification, you can record your game session with ease and without the need for extra software. It even allows you to edit your final output before sharing them with the Minecraft community. It requires a bit of a steep learning curve and comes with a few limitations. Nevertheless, it is a fun tool to use.
