Premium open-world co-op FPS

RedFall is a paid action game from Arkane Austine and Bethesda Softworks. This open-world, cooperative first-person shooter puts you and up to three other players on the titular island, tasked with retaking it for the sake of humanity. With an array of weapons, skills, and playstyles divided across four character archetypes, it’s an adrenaline-pumping experience for you and your friends.

Essentially, RedFall offers fast-paced shooter vibes similar to Apex Legends. Similarly, the entire game feels like different chapters of Left 4 Dead 2 combined in a single, open-world map. Expect a visual treat that masks its insane difficulty progression.

Join a team of unlikely heroes

RedFall is the name of an isolated island that has been overtaken by creatures of the night. You play as one of the four characters, each with specific abilities, to recapture the entire island. From the military-turned-mercenary with a vampiric eye and a raven familiar to a young debt-ridden college student with telekinetic powers, each of them comes with a fully-fleshed backstory and a skillset that caters to different players.

As for the world, expect a massive map comparable with Dead Rising 3 at least. It is divided into different areas or sectors. Although most of the locations feel familiar, such as the common carnival and port areas, the game makes up for it with its high level of detail. Also, as mentioned, it’s playable solo or with a multiplayer team of up to four players.

Another point that differentiates it from similar games like L4D2 is that it has a noticeably more complex loadout and skill system. It lets you further customize the characters according to your play styles. In terms of the story, however, it only has a single ending, attained at the end of the game. Unfortunately, the lack of multiple endings somehow undermines the massive open-world premise.

Changing the face of co-op

Perhaps the largest strength of RedFall is offering a nonlinear playing experience, which is rare for FPS co-op games and its difficulty scaling. The game adjusts well depending on whether you play solo or with friends, making the game equally challenging and satisfying. Also, it manages to keep the entire experience story-driven, although it might feel restrictive since everything culminates in a single ending scenario. Still, highly recommended.
