A free overhaul mod for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord
The Realms Forgotten Mod is an ambitious project that tries to add a fantasy RPG element to Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. Some elements are re-skins, like horses becoming Elks, and some are stat manipulations. In how it adds a story element to the game, this free mod is similar to The Hyborian Age Bannerlord Mod.
The most notable story and aesthetic change are from the addition of an Elven race, along with the addition of a few monsters. In regard to changing the aesthetic to match a popular theme, it is similar to Bannerlord – Game of Thrones Mod.
From medieval to fantasy
The mod adds clothing and items that resemble real-world items from 800 BC to 1170 BC, but it doesn’t stick to medieval concepts. It also adds in several features from fantasy fiction, especially Lord of the Rings, which is hardly surprising considering that Bannerlord is considered to be the best LOTR RPG clone of its era.
New dramatic events
This Mount & Blade mod tries to weave new events into the timeline narrative of Mount and Blade. However, like the real game, they are mostly based on power shifts between the clans and not on technology progression or world-altering scenarios.
Not an amateur mod
This free Bannerlord mod isn’t a poorly crafted re-skinning mod. It is obvious that a lot of work has gone into re-skinning the items, clothing and people. The biggest downside is that it still needs a lot of work to make a game-changing difference. Its ambitions are large, but its scope and effect on the overall gameplay are pretty small.
No game-breaking additions
With gentle stat manipulation and clever re-skinning, the game doesn’t suffer from an overload of information. This is because the additions are streamlined, compact, efficient, and compartmentalized so that it doesn’t necessarily affect the game’s performance.
