Colorful stealth game

Rainbow Agent is a free action game by developer Violeta Prado Caldeira. It is a stealth-based title wherein players will take on the role of a spy infiltrating enemy bases. It employs a unique gameplay mechanic that utilizes color to help them hide and blend in.

Similar to games like THEFT Inc. Stealth Thief Game or Stealth Master: Ninja Assassin, Rainbow Agent has players be wary of their surroundings and carefully plan and time their movements to avoid detection. It also features swipe-based controls that are intuitive and easy to learn for newcomers.

Blending in

When it comes to stealth games, most players will think of hiding in dark corners or taking advantage of enemies’ blindsides to slip through and avoid detection. It’s a simple gameplay mechanic yet quite engaging and challenging in practice. Rainbow Agent is an app that goes by the same conventions, but introduces a different and unexpected twist to the formula, the use of color.

In this game, you are tasked with infiltrating enemy posts in order to rescue your comrades and escape together. Levels are littered with goons and guards, and you’ll need to make your way to the exit at the end of each. Taking cues from the concept of camouflage, you will avoid detection by blending in with the colors of various objects, such as walls and furniture.

The game utilizes swipe-based controls that essentially let you draw and plot your path. Be wary as you avoid lines of sight from enemies and surveillance cameras. While the gameplay premise itself is interesting and unique, the graphics fall way short of expectations. The level design is decent enough, but the character models are just bad and look thrown together—which needs a complete overhaul.

Fun gameplay, meh graphics

All in all, Rainbow Agent is an interesting and fun game that is not your typical stealth title with its presentation and use of color. The controls are intuitive and the gameplay is solid. The mediocre graphics will be a deal-breaker for some, though—but if you don’t mind it—this one’s worth giving a try for the premise alone.
