Additional content mod for RA3

RA3 Epic War Mod is a free mod, powered by moddb, that greatly improves the strategy game Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3. This custom content covers the entire game by introducing new buildings, units, technologies and rebalances the game with the additions taken into consideration, giving players a new reason to revisit the 2008 real-time strategy (RTS) game.

Red Alert 3 was the fitting end to the Red Alert trilogy, yet RA3 Epic War Mod manages to add a cherry on top of a spectacular game. You can also try other mods like the Rejuvenation Mod and the Entropy Mod.

More units, more strategies

To start, RA3 Epic War Mod doesn’t just reskin and modify existing units but also includes new models and textures for the new units. Keeping you away from spoilers, unit changes include those for the War Bear, the Flak Troopers, as well as the Helicopter units for all factions. The mod also comes with its own maps, saving you the hassle of having to download and move custom maps individually.

In terms of graphics quality, the developers behind the mod really put in the extra work, which shows when the custom units are destroyed. They mostly feature additional shrapnels or debris not usually found in the original game. However, the mod might not run well for lower-end systems as it requires the Model Detail option to be set to high or greater, although no similar requirements exist for other options.

Failing to prepare the base game properly might result in the mod not loading at all. In certain instances, players report the game suddenly crashing when starting a Skirmish game. Aside from these bugs, the mod runs mostly fine and you can enjoy the features and content it has to offer. The developer also offers a walkthrough on common bugs and glitches, included with the downloadable files.

Revisit your Red Alert days

Overall, RA3 Epic War Mod gives players a new reason to play the classic strategy game. It’s fairly easy to install, although it does have some stringent system requirements and settings to follow. However, once you get it up and running, you can start trying out if your former strategies still work with the new rebalance scheme created to accommodate new units, buildings, and techs.
