Free space platforming game
Project Vaelius is an indie game developed by TokuSoft. Set in the distant future of 2062, this game will take action into space. Here, you will play a space marine tasked to confront a lethal gas that threatens the universe.
Project Vaelius plays like your usual space shooters. However, instead of spacecraft, what you will face are creatures infested by the gas. In each stage, you will have a set of tasks that needs completing to advance to the next level. Although, besides your enemies, there are other things to consider while you play, including your oxygen level.
How do you play this game?
Project Vaelius is a platforming game that brings players to the future. As mentioned, it features a covert chemical called Vaelius, which was spread throughout space. Vaelius is very lethal as it turns any creature into a real threat. To understand it, you were sent into space with a mission to search for scattered cores of the gas and some stem cells that give rise to these dangerous cores.
Project Vaelius comes with multiple levels, and each stage has a mission that you need to complete. However, doing so will prove to be difficult as there are infested creatures blocking your way. Luckily, you are armed with a gun. You can blast them away and be on your way. Although, note that your weapon will not help you from other obstacles that can zap your lerosuit.
Controlling your character is simple, albeit confusing at first. Instead of the usual WASD, the keys O, P, Q, and A, are used for movements, allowing you to move left, right, up, and down, respectively. The space bar, meanwhile, lets you fire your weapon. Besides the confusing controls, players should also note that while you can move in four directions, you can only fire your weapon left and right.
Is the game good?
All in all, Project Vaelius is a game worth picking up. Despite its quite complicated premise, it has simple gameplay. Although the colors are somewhat glaring, the visuals are what you expect from the titles of this genre. The background music will also pump you up as you play. Sure, the unique controls can be confusing at first. However, once you get the hang of it, everything will be easy.
