Indian mobile VOD service
Video-on-demand services are now a growing trend across the globe. It has redefined the entertainment industry and almost replaced the way people watch movies and TV shows. By providing easy accessibility, more and more people are ditching their traditional cable plans to a more convenient streaming subscription. Prime Flix is yet another video streaming service. This multimedia application offers a wide selection of Indian movies and series that you can watch anywhere, anytime. It offers flexible pricing and various genre to cater to users who are looking for an alternative to popular streaming apps.
Familiar interface
At a glance, Prime Flix’s interface greatly resembles Netflix. From the black app background to the way it displays its content, both apps look similar. The only missing from Prime Flix is the preview of new content, and trending shows that you can watch as you browse.
The homepage of the Prime Flix also shows you a thumbnailed list of the shows that you can stream. More, by clicking the content, you can see a summary of the show, as well as the list of casts. A thumbnailed list of episodes is also shown if the content you choose is a series.
If you already have a show in mind, you can click the Search tab and key in the title. There is also the Coming Soon tab, where you can see shows with up-and-coming episodes or movies that will be added to the app’s library soon. Finally, the app allows you to store your favorite content, so you don’t have to look for them every time you want to stream them.
Prime Flix is free to download. However, you need to pay for the subscription to get access to its content. More, you need to create an account. Alternatively, you can use your Google or Facebook account.
Watch original content
Having original content is yet another similarity between Prime Flix and Netflix. Although producing original content is the new trend amongst streaming services nowadays. Prime Flix’s original content is highlighted on top of the homepage for easier browsing.
Additionally, the app offers web series and movies from other native Indian languages, such as Tamil and Telugu. You can also watch short films and even music videos. If you want to check out the trailers of upcoming movies, Prime Flix also has it on its homepage.
Some reliability issues
Prime Flix may look like a carbon copy of Netflix. However, when it comes to reliability, the former still has lots to improve. For one, the app takes its sweet time loading your video. And if it does play, you will be treated to frequent buffering, even if you have a stable connection.
More so, the videos have a low resolution with no option to adjust them. The app also does not allow users to download their videos. And if you stopped watching or the video suddenly stops mid-stream, you will need to start again from the beginning as Prime Flix cannot pick up from where you left off.
Users must also brace themselves to the app’s constant crashing. There will also be some content which you will have a hard time accessing, especially among the web series.
Needs fixing first
At first, Prime Flix looked to be a great app for users who wants to watch Indian movies and shows. The app, with its familiar design, is easy to navigate, removing the need for a learning curve. More, it offers original content just like its rival apps. However, its reliability issues impact the users’ experience. It still needs more polishing for it to be considered as a streaming alternative.
