Fun and free casual delivery game
Popty’s Poptisserie is a free role-playing game created by an indie developer named wrigley bug. In this game, you will play as an apprentice pastry chef who is tasked to deliver desserts for the residents of your town. You will need to explore the town and remember their orders to deliver the right desserts—all while learning their favorite recipes. You may even learn how to bake a few yourself. This title is a short game that can be completed in a single sitting.
Deliver treats to the land of tricks
Popty’s Poptisserie introduces the players to the eponymous Popty, a friendly brownie who owns the local bakery. You, the player, will be under his tutelage, learning his secret to creating sweet desserts. However, him being a brownie is not the only unusual thing in this game. The game is set in a monochromatic town and the residents whom you’ll be serving are Halloween monsters. Thus, not only will you need to remember recipes, but you also need to learn about the monsters.
The game uses both keyboard and mouse in playing. To move around the game map, you can use the WASD keys. The Spacebar, meanwhile, allows you to interact with the characters or use the items. The Escape button allows you to see the options, while the Tab key lets you see the menu. Using mouse clicks instead of the space bar will complete the dialogues. It is not ideal—since you won’t see the rest of the conversation—but it does speed up the dialogues without closing the whole subtitle box.
For a game set in a Halloween-inspired town, this title comes with a pretty art design that looks like a storybook. The aesthetic in this game is so solid that it makes it charming rather than spooky. However, as noted, this game is very short. You only need to complete a few deliveries to see the ending. The game also comes with a few technical issues that needed fixing. Some recipe pages and monster profiles do not load. There is also no save option, meaning you have to start at the beginning if you happen to stop playing before you see the ending. To make it worse, the game app is prone to crashing.
Short and sweet
Popty’s Poptisserie is a fun casual game for players who do not have a lot of time in their hands. The game has easy mechanics that do not need a steep learning curve. Moreover, despite having a monochromatic design, the graphics and UI are very charming. It has a few drawbacks, but if you are not a hardcore gamer, then there will be no problem.
