Free mobile port of the horror sequel
Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 – Unofficial is a free-to-play horror game from dragon dakco. This mobile port of the iconic adventure game lets you experience what follows after you seemingly escaped from Huggy Wuggy from the original Poppy Playtime Chapter 1, now accessible from your mobile device. After the blue long-limbed creature, you get to face new monsters in all-new locations such as the Game Station and the Train Station.
Outrun new monsters and solve new puzzles in Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 – Unofficial, which manages to retain the same aesthetic and challenging puzzles. Alternatively, check out Huggy 456 Survival Playtime.
Explore the factory once more
Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 – Unofficial mostly retains the same content as the official release, following where the first one ends. After you escaped Huggy Wuggy from the first chapter, you now find your character in a different section of Playtime Co, the abandoned toy factory infested with animatronic monsters. This version also features the new areas: Game Station and Train Station. It also means new puzzles to overcome.
Retaining one core element of the Poppy Playtime franchise is the use of the iconic grab pack. This robotic backpack with two colored and extendable hands will still be your main equipment for accessing hard-to-reach places and pushing buttons for puzzles. It works well with the remapped controls for mobile, with a left-hand joystick and a variety of action buttons. Despite intermittent unresponsiveness, it generally works as it should.
Lastly, the graphics also closely resemble that of the official release. Unfortunately, it also suffers from optimization issues, which cause a variety of problems as you play. There are instances where textures don’t load properly or the collision mechanics fail, causing gameplay glitches that can either be beneficial or disadvantageous to the player. These graphics and gameplay bugs remain in the game and you can exploit them.
An imperfect yet playable port
It’s not released by MOB Games, but Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 – Unofficial still remains a commendable effort to bring the popular PC game to mobile devices. It uses the same content and covers roughly the same scope, gameplay, and story-wise. The puzzle and horror are there, although it can use a bit more polishing to resolve some persisting bugs.Recommended.
