Enter a Pokémon MMORPG
Pokémon World Online is a free, fan-made MMORPG inspired by the Pokémon series. It borrows the gameplay from the official series, allowing you to explore recreations of the Kanto and Johto regions, capture Pokémon, and customize your team just as you would in one of the franchise’s titles.
However, the family-friendly game Pokémon World Online adds a new twist by following you to share your adventure with countless other players from around the world and compete against them in Pokémon battles. You can also create your own areas with the map editor.
Conquer gyms and meet other players
With a plethora of cool features in an online community setting, Pokémon World Online brings together the nostalgia of the beloved Pokémon franchise and the ability to interact with other fans. The gameplay is heavily based on the typical Pokémon role-playing games one may have played on the Gameboy Advance or 3DS before, so the only new and unique aspect is the online connectivity with other players.
To sign up to join the server, you only need an active email address and a copy of the game’s installer. However, installing it correctly may get tricky if you’re not following the game website’s instructions closely. Once launched and running, the game will ask you to pick a starter Pokémon. Then, you are free to explore the reimagined Kanto or Johto regions and meet other players.
Since the game is essentially an MMORPG, there is an active online forum wherein you can talk to other players. You can trade items with other players, join guilds, or invite others to matches. Do all of these things while gearing up for conquering the gyms and beating the Elite Four. There’s also a map editor, although it may be challenging to learn for those unfamiliar with map-making mechanics.
The classic favorite with a twist
If playing your old Pokémon game solo has gotten rather tiresome for you, then you may want to try out playing it with other people. Pokémon World Online provides you with a chance to do exactly that, thanks to its premise of expanding the well-loved gameplay with MMORPG elements. In it, you can still beat Pokémon gym leaders, but this time you can directly communicate with other online players.
