Plants strike back
Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 is an action and online third-person shooter largely based on the well-known and loved 2D defense game, Plants vs Zombies. It is also the sequel to PopCap’s first attempt at bringing the classic game to the 3D scene, which is Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare.
The premise of this premium shooter is captivating — the zombies have unfortunately conquered Suburbia, so now it is time for the Plants to strike back. Aside from the single-player shooter mechanics, Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 also has other game modes anyone can enjoy.
Zombies against Plants
The unthinkable has occurred — the Zombies have defeated the Plants and taken over the town of Suburbia, renaming it Zomburbia. This premise is the perfect excuse to add some new modes to the Plant-and-Zombie shooting action, as present in Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2. These include Assault Herbal featuring 12-vs-12 action and Graveyard Ops, a cooperative mode where four Zombies must defend their base enemy hordes.
Each faction has traveled back in time to enlist characters from the past, present, and future in a clear nod to Plants vs Zombies 2. For example, Plants have recruited Citron, the bounty-hunting Orange from the future, while the Zombies have found Super Brains, the Zombie who thinks it is an 80’s superhero.
Play alone and with friends
The game also has 12 new maps. This means you will find yourself fighting in a range of outlandish locations, including a futuristic theme park and the last frontier of the Wild West.
Not the most social person in the world? Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 also has you covered, featuring the option to fight alone against AI-controlled enemies for the first time in the series. There is also a new split-screen mode to enjoy the game with a friend locally. However, the single-player games can seem repetitive over time.
Tale of the Taco event
In a nutshell, the Tale of the Taco event spans multiple weeks and features a different event each week. These events either add an interesting twist to the game’s pre-existing game modes or introduce new gameplay modes like adding an insane Berserk setting. There are also generous rewards to be given away, ranging from Coins to Special or Legendary Items.
Let the battle commence
Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare was great, and to fans, more of the same in a larger, more bombastic game for Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 feels like a logical step. The seed has been sown and now the fruit is being reaped in the form of this exciting, online single-player shooter game. While expanding on the first game’s proven methods, it also introduces fresher gameplay elements.
