Free and casual shoot ‘em up
Plant X is a free-to-play action game from WEJOY. This top-down perspective shoot ‘em up puts you in charge of cute characters in various plant-inspired costumes. Equip different customizable weapons and use various skills as you fight against a growing barrage of monsters in all directions.
With a lot of gameplay possibilities and virtually limitless waves, Plant X is designed for endless casual gaming. Also, while it’s fully enjoyable for free, it also features in-app microtransactions that can help boost the experience. It’s a lot like Vampire Survivors recreated with a Plants vs Zombies theme.
Control action-packed plants
What makes Plant X refreshing is that it offers high-octane action coupled with a relaxing visual style. It features worm-looking characters that wear produce-themed outfits, making them share a visual similarity with Fall Guys. Of course, you have to unlock other characters before you get to enjoy the unique abilities offered by these different characters, such as an apple, potato, broccoli, onion, and more.
As for the gameplay, it’s quite intuitive since you only need a left-hand joystick for movement and a right-hand button for shooting. Aside from your chosen character’s abilities, you also get to enjoy additional effects based on the items you pick up during runs, and those that you unlock as you progress in the game. Of course, after some time, the monsters also increase in number and difficulty.
Still, this fun casual game has a couple of restrictions. For one, it’s only available in select regions, with ineligible players informed that the game is not available right from its Google Play Store page. Also, the difficulty curve can be challenging at the start. Since you start with limited characters and abilities, you might find yourself ill-equipped to fight more advanced waves.
Fun and relaxing, but still challenging
Overall, Plant X is a fun game for those looking for a relaxing experience that is not the least bit boring. Its design is both refreshing and serves some in-game purpose, with unique abilities suited to the type of plant or vegetable that they are. Still, it has a couple of challenges that make it unavailable for everyone, whether from geographical restrictions or skill levels.
