A Simple, Yet Fun First-Person Shooting Game
Designed for the PlayStation 4 (PS4), Pixel Gear is a first-person shooting game with several ghosts and humourous cartoon characters added to the mix.
Gameplay
Pixel Gear entails a bow-and-arrow arrangement and a straightforward game premise. The goal is to shoot enemies that fall into your virtual vision. In each wave, multiple bats, skeletons, headless horsemen, witches, etc. can be seen sauntering in almost every direction. These characters would be tossing projectiles at you, with the objective to cause you harm. Your goal is to eliminate them all but making sure you don’t get too close to them physically while killing them. You would kick-start your killing spree with a handgun with almost infinite ammunition, thereby collecting coins. At the end of every wave, you can unlock more weapons by spending the coins. The additional arsenal comprises a grenade launcher, machine gun and also a sniper rifle.
Executed Well
The digital-only Pixel Gear offers players excellent shooting action. The game may not be rich content-wise or could lack a few more levels, but its simplicity and fluidity more than makes up for those minor pitfalls. The shooting is accurate and works nicely. And properly timing usage of headshots and explosives could be quite satisfying too. It’s truly hard to express the amount of contentment a gamer derives when standing feet-planted within a virtual setup, taking aims and dealing with hordes of enemies. Moreover, the game’s retro-inspired, vibrant world simply oozes with nostalgic charm.
