A casual idle traveling game
Piske & Usagi’s Short Trip is a free simulation game that revolves around the titular characters who were designed by Japanese illustrator, Kanahei. This adorable game from KLab doesn’t require any deep thinking or constant checking in order for you to make progress as it employs an idle gameplay style that’s uncomplicated yet still enjoyable.
In Piske & Usagi’s Short Trip, players will have to send the rabbit and bird duo off on a series of trips around Japan and return after four hours to claim rewards or souvenirs. Sending them off with special items and charms will increase the likelihood of them bringing back rarer items.
Explore Japan’s finest destinations
For players who are familiar with the iconic duo, Piske & Usagi’s Short Trip will bring back fond memories with the use of familiar illustrations that feature the tandem, as well as some familiar side characters. The game features over 200 locations—each with its own unique souvenirs and delicacies to take back home. As players continue to travel to new and exciting destinations, they can also gain miles that they can exchange for exclusive goods.
Alternatively, players can also opt to earn in-game rewards by watching advertisements on their own accord. Some of the rewards include special items, which you can use to decorate your home alongside the souvenirs you will collect over time. Each trip will also allow you to take a special photo that you can save in an album for you to look back on in the future.
Something to note, though, is that some cutscenes won’t play properly on lower-specced devices and will require you to quit and then restart the game in order to skip it. The UI is also slow to respond, which can be frustrating when trying to perform actions like applying changes to your home. Certain loading screens also take an inordinate amount of time to get past, as well, even when using a stable internet connection.
Cute and casual
Overall, Piske & Usagi’s Short Trip is a fun game for both casual players and fans of the adorable duo to enjoy without having to worry about having to level up or accumulate the right items. Its carefree gameplay and home decoration mechanics offer a unique charm that pairs well with the adorable graphics. However, it could still use some UI improvements to make the gameplay experience much smoother for all players.
