Skewer pineapples… and other fruit, too
Though you might think an app with a name like Pineapple Pen is for keeping notes or finding recipes, this is actually a game where you lob pens at fruit and hope they stick. It’s loosely based on a music video called PPAP, but you don’t need to know even that to potentially enjoy it. It’s quick, easy to play but tough to master, and strangely addictive!
Tap away; stab and a miss
Pineapple Pen has you throwing pens at pineapples and apples. Both of these are cutesier than you might expect, with emoji-esque faces in various expressions. It almost makes you feel a bit bad for picking on them, but odds are that any pity you feel will soon be replaced with frustration. The game isn’t rigged in any way, but it is hard. A couple misses will ensure that you lose, and once you do, you have to start from the beginning. If you do particularly well, a bearded man and possibly others will enthusiastically commentate on it, perhaps a holdover from the video on which the game is based.
A fruity bit of fun
It can’t be put any more simply: Pineapple Pen is a brief and zany distraction that’ll resonate if you’ve seen and enjoyed the memetic video it’s based on but that is fairly fun either way.
