Publish your photos online
What is photocasting? It’s about delivering your photo albums in a stream online. Think podcasting or news RSS feeds but with photos. Now photocasting is an iPhoto feature generally only available to .Mac account subscribers, but Photocasting Freedom manages to make this available to anyone.
The interface is reminiscent of iPhoto, with albums appearing in a list on the left side, and photos shown in a preview in the main part of the interface. Setting up an FTP or SFTP connection is fairly easy although it can take a bit of time. You’ll have to make sure you have a server in mind and add it to the list in Photocasting Freedom to be able to upload your albums. Once your albums are up you can share them with anyone you want.
For people into photocasting, this application is a great way of publishing their albums online without having a .Mac account.
Photocasting Freedom allows for photocasting any iPhoto album without .Mac. Instead of using .Mac, through a clean, simple and intuitive interface Photocasting Freedom uses FTP or SFTP to publish iPhoto and RSS compatible album feeds.
Not only does iPhoto find your iPhoto photo albums for you but your friends will be able to subscribe to the albums you put online. Copy the following link under the “Subscribe to Photocast” feature and watch it pull in the album off of the internet.
To photocast you first must let Photocasting Freedom know about servers that Photocasting Freedom can publish to. To do so go to the Photocasting Freedom menu and choose “Servers…” In the Server window press the “+” to create a new server entry. Name the server and then move on “Server” field. The server field is where you enter the domain for the server you will be publishing to. Then enter your username and password for the server. Initial path is the full path which you wish to publish your photocasts to, the URL is the web URL that your initial path points to.
Once a server has been setup in Photocasting Freedom it is simple to publish any album. Just press the “Publish” button under the album list. Enter a name for your photocast and select a server and then publish. You can track the progress of your upload in the activity monitor.
