Free visual novel game
Peyton’s Post-Op Visits is a free role-playing game by littlerat. It is a visual novel that features a simple storyline. Here, you will join Peyton, who frequently visits his old roommate Marcus after his top surgery. In each visit, you will learn how both your lives changed in the years since you last met.
Typical of indie games, Peyton’s Post-Op Visits offers short gameplay. However, there will be different endings, depending on the choices you make. Although while the game has cute cartoon-ish visuals, it has limited animation. With this, it feels more like a novel instead of a game.
Enlightening visits
Peyton’s Post-Op Visits is an indie visual novel game. As noted, it stars a trans man named Peyton, who visits his old roommate from university named Marcus. In the game, Peyton recently learned of Marcus’ top surgery. This opened a door for him to visit and talk to him after they graduated three years prior. Throughout the game, you will see the two reconnect and learn more about their lives.
As with other visual novels, the game requires very little player input. What you will do most of the game is to click on the screen to display the text. Of course, there are times when you will choose a question for Marcus to further the story. However, these instances are far between, so you will mostly click and read as you play the game.
Despite the simple premise, however, Peyton’s Post-Op Visits offers an enlightening plot. The game discusses issues trans men and trans-masculine people face, including top surgery and coming out. With this, you can learn more from their perspective. Although, as mentioned, the game is short, each session running for 20-30 minutes. Additionally, there is limited animation that players may feel like they are reading rather than playing.
Is the game good?
In a nutshell, Peyton’s Post-Op Visits is a great game to play. Sure, there is little that you can do here — basically, click the screen and read—but there is plenty to learn. The game lets you see the problems that trans men face from their perspective. It also discusses the topic of pre- and post-top surgery. The game is short and simple, but it is very educational.
