The original arcade classic comes to iPhone
This iPhone version of PAC-MAN translates perfectly recaptures the pill-munching fun of the classic arcade game.
The object of PAC-MAN is, of course, to gobble up all of the pink pills without getting eaten by the ghosts. If you eat a flashing pill then the ghosts turn blue for a few seconds, meaning you can run into them to send them back to their home in the center of the maze.
We were a little worried how PAC-MAN would play on the iPhone. Thankfully though, all three of the game’s control systems work very well. You can choose to control PAC-MAN by swiping the screen, by using the on-screen joystick, or by tilting the phone.
PAC-MAN on the iPhone looks and plays almost exactly the same as it did in the arcades 30 years ago. This isn’t that surprising given that this version has been published by Namco, who came up with the original.
The downside of PAC-MAN is that this free version is very limited when compared to the full PAC-MAN iPhone game. In fact, there’s only one board available to play.
Perhaps PAC-MAN is looking a little old fashioned now, but fans of the original will not be disappointed by this faithful remake.
