Outcasts and Remnants – A Classic RPG Mod
Outcasts and remnants are the game’s best mods. This mod adds in new content and improves the content from the base game, allowing players to experience the wastelands and get further into the Courier’s legacy. Outcasts and remnants are also some of the best mods for the base game too, because they add a lot of variety to the game – they’re not like other mods which are, say, made for certain demographics – but this mod is made for all kinds of people. It adds in new content, improves the game’s mechanics, adds in new settlements, gives you more options in your character’s dialogue and even adds in brand new features not seen in any other mod. Outcasts and remnants are some of the best mods out there, and they’re so good, in fact, that many people recommend them to other people who haven’t played as much as those who have.
The first thing that makes Outcasts and remnants so good are the quests; these quests are top notch, taking the best parts of the vanilla game and expanding upon them. For example, I got to kill three ghouls before I was able to get to the boss room, and then after I killed him I got a ‘good’ quest to do some repeatable quests (just like at the end of the original game) to get some more money. But the real reason to play this mod is because of the content it adds to the game: the amount of gameplay and immersion the mod provides is simply phenomenal. The game’s architecture is vastly improved, the visual effects are incredible, the whole environment looks really life-like.
To play Outcasts and remnants is to play Fallout, but in a way. Unlike vanilla FO4, the content and mechanics of Outcasts and remnants aren’t quite as deep, but the content still feels like an improvement over the vanilla. It’s also the kind of game where you can feel a connection with the characters you’re playing, and where you can feel a real sense of adventure and gratification while playing. This type of game needs a good game designer on board, and thankfully Obsidian have one. If you love classic RPGs, you’ll love playing this game. It’s well worth a look.
