Free 2D rhythm game

Osu!droid is a musicgame inspired by the popular Japanese rhythm game for Nintendo DS, Osu! Tatake! Ouedan! Like its inspiration, this game challenges you to follow the beat by tapping the circles that appear on your screen. Occasionally, you also need to drag balls or rotate a spinner. The game offers customization options, and players can even make “beatmaps” to match their favorite songs. Moreover, they can share those beatmaps online for other players to use. Playing Osu!droid is straightforward. It can also be a fun pastime, especially for music lovers. However, there are lots of issues going around this game that you might end up uninstalling it after a while.

Doesn’t work most of the time

Osu!droid is a lightweight mobile game and very straightforward. To play, you only need to choose among the beatmaps and play to its rhythm. As mentioned, you only need to tap the circle as they appear, with occasional dragging and rotating actions. Each circle corresponds to certain points, all of which are tallied after the beat ends. However, playing the game is not as easy as its mechanics.

To start, the game does not actually have any beatmap. You have to download them from the official forum or download a separate beatmap downloader app. It is kind of a bummer to have to download a song one-by-one, but at the same time, it lets you pick the song you want. Be warned, though. The songs available in the forum are all Japanese songs, so if you don’t dig that, this might not be the game for you.

But if that’s not a bummer for you, then this might be: the app rarely works. Most of the time, when you click the play button, the app fails to connect to your music library, and you are back on the main page. And sure, there is a Get Song option, but it only lets you see the list of beatmaps. You won’t be able to download or use it. All in all, Osu!droid is a problematic game. If you are into this kind of game, there are lots of music rhythm games out there that work better.
