Get more out of Growl

Growl is one of the best ways of receiving notifications in OS X but many applications don’t support it or get the most out of it. OmniGrowl aims to extend Growl so that it provides alerts for just about anything.

OmniGrowl allows such things as notifications for upcoming iCal events, To-Dos, Birthdays, iTunes track changes and even News headlines and RSS feeds. You can also configure it to monitor your Mac for performance log reports and even flight arrivals and concert notifications from last.fm. In fact, the sheer amount of notifications, customizations and alerts possible with OmniGrowl is overwhelming.

It takes quite a long time to configure and view all of the possible customizations possible and the danger is that, by the time you’re done, OmniGrowl simply ends up bombarding you with too many alerts. Of course, you can reduce the number of alerts but that means not taking advantage of everything OmniGrowl has to offer.
