You will play the role of Melody, a working woman who spends her day appreciating everything she has in her apartment. The game is free to download and play and requires very little machine resources.
Off Day employs point-and-click mechanics. Using your mouse, you can pan around Melody’s apartment. Left-click, meanwhile, lets you select the objects. However, as with other indie games, the playtime is short, lasting only for 30 minutes.
What is Off Day?
Off Day is a point-and-click visual novel game about appreciating the little things in life. As mentioned, you will play the role of Melody, a working woman who will spend her day off. The game begins with her waking up and deciding what she will do throughout the day. You will explore your surroundings by moving your mouse cursor and selecting an item by clicking left.
The first map you can explore is the bedroom. Here, you can choose an item and discover what Melody likes most about it. Following the bedroom is the living room. Like the bedroom, you can pan around the room and click on an item. However, there is a new character introduced; Melody’s best friend named Juniper. In every item selected, there will be an interaction between the two characters.
Off Day features gorgeous artwork reminiscent of webtoons. The background music is also soothing, perfectly matching the feel of the game. However, users must note that the story tackles the topic of depression. Toward the end, the plot will turn gloomy as Melody’s depressing thoughts fill her. Additionally, the game requires limited player input. If you are looking for more action, this game does not have it.
Is the game good?
Overall, Off Day is an adorable, calming game that you can play to pass the time. The story is simple as it explores appreciating the little things you have in life. It is very relatable, especially for people living alone. The art is also visually appealing and matches the theme of the game. Although, the game focuses on depression and can be triggering to those who have the tendency.
