Clean your infected system
Here at Softonic we drive the computer security message home pretty hard, but even we know that sometimes, despite your best efforts, an infection will slip in. Norman Malware Cleaner is a program for those occasions, when you know you have caught something unpleasant and need to do something to fix it.
Norman Malware Cleaner is very simple to use. The pared-down interface offers you few options – a box to specify what areas you want to scan and a window to monitor the scan process and results. There are a small number of options in Norman Malware Cleaner, but they are of the advanced variety, so you’ll need to know your stuff before toggling them. Unfortunately, Norman Malware Cleaner doesn’t provide any help files to guide the less expert user.
A little irritating, however, is the fact that Norman Malware Cleaner doesn’t let you know how long each scan is likely to take, nor does it provide a progress bar. I also noticed that the Norman website provides a few pre-scan recommendations, but the program itself does not remind you about them. Although it creates with a post-scan report, Norman Malware Cleaner takes its own decision when it comes to deleting malware, so as a user you have very little input.
These problems probably won’t bother the occasional, casual user, but if you like to get involved with the care of your computer, you’ll probably find that the program doesn’t offer you enough choice or control, even though it does perform its job well.
Norman Malware Cleaner performs well, but is too light on user options.
