All-out Nickelodeon brawl
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is an action game from Ludosity that brings together the most beloved Nickelodeon characters on one platform. However, instead of bonding together, they will be fighting in an all-out brawl. You can play it locally with up to four players or in an online competitive multiplayer.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a platformer fighter inspired by Super Smash Bros. However, its combat is way faster than any Smash game, making it an alternative to Smash Ultimate. Although, upon closer look, you will find that it has a general lack of polish and few irksome mechanics.
What is Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl?
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a fighting game that brings all your favorite Nickelodeon characters together. The characters you can play here include Avatar Aang, SpongeBob, Lincoln Loud, the Ninja Turtles, Invader Zim, and many more. Each offers a different and innovative play style and move set. It also features 20 themed levels taken from the studio’s popular shows, like the Jelly Fish Field and the Technodrome.
The game is multiplayer that supports up to four players. You can play locally with your friends or fight random players online. The gameplay follows the basic formula of platform fighters. You will fight your opponent until one of you gets knockout. However, you cannot dodge or roll away to avoid an attack. What you can do is block or negate the attack with one of your own.
However, while the battles are fun, the game is not without a few significant caveats. The character models and background lack detail. The level designs are also extremely generic. Some of the gimmicky stages are also not fun to fight on. Finally, for a Nickelodeon game, there is very little Nickelodeon charm that comes through. There is no voice acting and no remixes of any themes from the included shows.
Is the game good?
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a good alternative to Super Smash Bros. The game offers almost the same experience, only this time, you will be playing with your favorite Nickelodeon characters. Moreover, the battles are exceptionally fast-paced. However, the game is not without issues. Despite its wealth of source material, it is subpar compared to the popular fighting game. It also fails to deliver the charm that Nickelodeon is known for.
