Mow down robot swarms in Nex Machina
Nex Machina is a twin-stick shooter set in a neon-lit cyberpunk future in which humanity’s robot servants have finally had enough and you need to blast your way through hordes of them to survive. Designed by Housemarque together with Smash TV creator Eugene Jarvis, this game features fast-paced action against legions of enemies in an environment designed with competitive play in mind.
Dash, zap, repeat
If you’ve played other twin-stick shooters before — like Jarvis’ classics Smash TV or Robotron 2084 — you’ll find the basics of Nex Machina pretty familiar. Your reflexes will be tested by wave upon wave of enemies, and you’ll need to use every tool at your disposal to stay alive. In addition to the weapons and power-ups that you’ll pick up through the level, you also have a fast dash that can get you out of trouble. Clear enough levels of enemies and you’ll be ‘rewarded’ with a confrontation with one of the game’s massive bosses. Fast movement and precise shooting will be crucial to victory. There’s no character progression and not much in the way of a story — this is pure arcade action, combining old-school gameplay with stylish modern graphics.
Alone against the hordes
If you like twin-stick shooters, you’re going to want to check out Nex Machina, a powerful collaboration between the creators of several classics of the genre that results in pure video game adrenaline.
