Mac port of the best NES emulator, with support for 143 mappers
Excellent NES emulator, or perhaps the most successful, Nestopia brings us back to the NES, Nintendo’s 8-bit milestone. Who has not made his first steps as a precocious gamer with that video game console? Now, you can enjoy its ROMs again with this incredible quality emulator.
Nestopia comes well nourished with audio and video options, with rarities such as its management of the FDS (Famicom Disk System), module that allowed using NES games on floppy disks, so Nestopia is fully compatible with the ROMs from these diskettes, as long as you have the FDS BIOS.
It supports more than 143 mappers, five kinds of audio processors and uses a process of exact emulation of clock cycles, so it has a wide compatibility with most of the available ROMs, among others the NFS and FDS. To try Nestopia, is to have total control over the game configuration, both for its extensive audio and video options, as well as its compatibility with GameGenie codes, the presence of graphic filters and much more.
Nestopia is by far the most compatible of any NES emulator for Mac OS X. Using cycle-exact emulation, it is able to run titles that rely on precise timing, and which therefore break under other emulators. This accurate emulation comes at a cost; Nestopia requires a minimum of a 600MHz machine for full speed; but if you have one, this the best available NES emulation for Mac.
Features:
- Support for 159 different mappers
