Basketball has never been so much fun!

NBA Jam HD is a thrill-a-minute basketball game for iOS that recaptures the magic of earlier console versions of the classic EA title.

For those unfamiliar with the format, NBA Jam HD is essentially a two-on-two arcade basketball game starring NBA superstars past and present. You can choose to play either a one-off match, take part in a full season (known as ‘Classic Campaign’), or square up against a buddy over WiFi or Bluetooth. NBA Jam HD also has unlockable challenges where you’re pitted against history’s greatest.

As you’d expect from an EA iOS title, the presentation of NBA Jam is pristine. EA’s NBA Live series for iOS has become famed for slick user interfaces, hip-hop soundtracks, realistic in-game graphics and awesome commentary – and NBA Jam doesn’t disappoint in any of these areas.

Controls in NBA Jam HD are made via an on-screen joypad and three action buttons. NBA Jam HD’s iPad version includes special moves that can be executed by shaking the device. The well thought-out ‘Jam Camp’ takes you through all the various moves through a tutorial with animated stickmen. You can switch to a gesture-based control system during matches, although this isn’t explained in the Jam Camp.

NBA Jam HD is the best example of arcade basketball on the iOS platform right now. If you’re a fan of the sport, this is a must-have.
