Naver’s online web drama streaming platform
Naver NOW is a free video streaming application for mobile by Naver Corp. Formerly known as Naver TV, it’s the official media platform for South Korea’s biggest web search engine, Naver. In it, users will be able to stream and watch the various web series and dramas distributed by the company.
Similar to Viu or OnDemandKorea, Naver NOW features a wide catalog of k-dramas for fans to browse through and watch directly from the app. It is also a place where they can consume originally produced shows hosted or starring some of their favorite k-pop groups and celebrities.
All things K
It’s been more than a decade since the Hallyu Wave hit, and there’s no sign of that momentum slowing down anytime soon. From K-pop to K-drama, South Korea has established itself as one of the premier sources of entertainment in the world. It’s no surprise that Naver, the country’s top search engine portal, has created specialized online platforms for fans, and Naver Now is one of them.
This platform boasts of original web series and shows starring some of the most popular and up-and-coming stars in South Korea. It’s home to a community of loyal fans, and you can interact and chat with your favorite idols and celebrities. The platform also hosts a variety of documentaries and live concerts that you can join in on and watch with everyone from around the world.
One nice feature is the in-app picture-in-picture mode that lets you watch your shows while doing something else like browsing or chatting with others. One thing to keep in mind as you use the app is that it can struggle with connection when there are a lot of people watching live. Basically, user congestion can often result in crashes or disconnections.
NOW better than ever
Naver NOW is a better and more streamlined experience now than ever before. The online platform offers plenty of web series to stream and live concerts to watch, and even lets you interact with your favorite idols and celebs, all from a single app. If you’re a fan of all things Korean, it’s definitely worth checking out and gets an easy recommendation.
