A tribute game to classic Pac-Man
Ms Nampac is a free puzzle game for PC by an indie developer who goes by the name jordi. It is being described as a tribute game based on the classic Pac-Man that was first released back in the 1980s. It boasts a similar design and the much-loved gameplay that fans loved in the original.
Just like with Space Invaders, Ms Nampac is a game made specifically for the 8-bit personal home computer, ZX Spectrum. Like the former, it draws inspiration from the classics and aims to let gamers have an experience as close to the original as possible today.
A love letter to a classic game
Pac-Man is one of the games that defined arcade gaming and served as an inspiration for the numerous titles that came after it. It represented 1980s pop culture, as well as helped push the video game industry forward. It is no wonder then that the franchise remains relevant to this day, with various titles coming out based on it, especially indie ones such as Ms Nampac.
Ms Nampac is essentially a tribute game based on Pac-Man for the ZX Spectrum. Looks-wise, it’s an exact replication of the original down to the character designs, art style, and visual effects. The same goes for its gameplay which carries over everything that fans loved about the classic. Controls are handled via keyboard, but being a title for the Spectrum, it supports joystick input if you have one.
Aside from those, there really is not much else to mention about the game. It really is just the exact game that you will be able to play on the ZX Spectrum. Do note that it’s still in active development, though. The developer is still ironing out some bugs and issues, so expect to encounter some of them during your playthrough in its current state.
Another way to experience Pac-Man
If you’ve never played any Pac-Man game before, now is a good time to give it a try, with developers making the game available on the ZX Spectrum and other retro emulators like it. It remains faithful to the original in every way, so you can expect to have an authentic experience. Hopefully, development for it finishes soon and you can play the full game.
