Mod installer for Gorilla Tag

Monke Mod Manager is a free game utility application developed by Deadly Kitten. As the name suggests, this app is a mod installer that will install custom mods into Gorilla Tag automatically. It can also be rerun to update the mods you installed in the popular virtual reality game.

More than installing mods, Monke Mod Manager also notifies you of any updates upon launch. You only need to open the latest release page if available. The process of updating a mod is also as easy as tapping the necessary button. However, the app is prone to crashing.

How do you install mods with Monke Mod Manager?

After downloading Monke Mod Manager, double-click the executable to run it. By default, the app should automatically fill in your Gorilla Tag installation folder. If you installed Gorilla Tag on a separate drive or path, the app prompts you to select the game’s executable file from your installation folder. Once done, you can proceed to choose any mods that are listed by checking their corresponding boxes.

Users should note that you cannot uncheck the option for BepInEx as this is the mod-loader for Gorilla Tag. As mentioned, you can also update the mods using this app. To do so, you only have to select the mod again and tap the Install/Update button. You can also learn more about your installed mod by tapping the View Mod Info button.

If it’s your first time modding or starting with a clean install, you will need to launch Gorilla Tag once and close it — this is done to initialize BepInEx. Additionally, you may not see any mods load the first time you launch Gorilla Tag after modding. Don’t fret, as this is normal. After relaunching, your mod will load into the game. However, as mentioned, the app often crashes when installing mods.

What you need to run Monke

System requirements will never be an issue with Monke Mod Manager, since it runs on all modern operating systems. Additionally, it only requires 218KB of storage space to get it started. The mod loader has even seen some significant improvements over the years, such as:

  • Drawing mod info from other sources aside from the outdated GitHub API
  • Added a switch to disable mods from automatically loading
  • Fixed recurring problems where corrupted ZIP files break the installation process

Still, while the mod loader itself is safe, it still requires players to practice due diligence when downloading third-party content for Gorilla Tag as it doesn’t have inherent scanning abilities.

Are you allowed to use mods in Gorilla Tag?

Technically, all players are allowed to use mods in Gorilla Tag. However, only cosmetic mods can be used in public games and even that should be kept to a minimum. On the other hand, both cosmetic and gameplay mods can be used in private lobbies, as long as all involved players consent to the mod usage.

Is the app good?

If you use mods in playing Gorilla Tag, then Monke Mod Manager is a must-have. With this mod manager, you can install custom mods automatically. You can even upload more than one mod at once. Moreover, you can update them with a few simple steps. However, it would help if the app stopped crashing while installing the mod to your game.
