Burn in disk-at-once (DAO) mode
MissingMediaBurner X allows you to rip and burn discs in disc-at-once (DAO) mode. In contrast to track-at-once mode (TAO), DAO means the disc recorder’s laser does not stop between tracks. This gives you more control over the length and content of your recording.
Although many burners offer DAO mode, many still don’t which is why MissingMediaBurner X was created. The application works via your Mac’s Terminal and will let you burn and rip any content to disk. Although the interface looks more than a little dated, it’s very easy to use.
MissingMediaBurner X features six write modes and can write up to 52x. However, because the program isn’t maintained regularly it requires drivers to work properly depending on your CD/DVD drive and many of the drivers in the drop down menu are quite outdated. If you do get stuck at any stage, the help files are easily accessible by clicking the question mark in the interface.
If you own an older Mac and your disc recorder offers DAO mode, then MissingMediaBurner X will be of interest to you. For other users, there are many other burners that offer this feature by default.
