Thrilling fast paced platforming in the future
Mirror’s Edge for iPhone puts you in the shoes of underground runner Faith as she battles against a government conspiracy in this side scrolling arcade platform game.
Like a complex version of Canabalt, Mirror’s Edge for iPhone has you controlling a character who’s always on the run, always going faster. What’s different here is that Faith has a range of moves available to her, like slides, jumps climbs and rolls, all done with a variety of finger swipes on the iPad.
The graphics are good, presented in 3D, although Mirror’s Edge for iPhone plays like a 2D platformer. The soundtrack too suits the game really well, but the sound effects, especially Faith’s breathing, can get irritating. The swipe and tilt controls in Mirror’s Edge for iPhone work well for the most part, but can feel imprecise at crucial moments, which can slow you down or result in a restart.
Mirror’s Edge for iPhone is missing the two-player head to head mode from the iPad version. It would have been nice to see online multiplayer. The 14 one-player levels provide enough challenge, although it feels a little short.
If you’re looking for a fast paced arcade game, Mirror’s Edge for iPhone is a great looking title that’s pretty fun to play.
