Retro gaming with modern sensibilities
Mike Mech (C64) is a multi-platform adventure game designed for the now-defunct Commodore 64. Set inside an alien-invaded spaceship where the power supply has been cut, you’ll play as Mike, the ship’s mechanic, to reactivate it.
While Mike Mech is not an original Commodore 64 title, it’s designed to emulate its game style, much like the modern remakes of Project Paradroid and C64 Commando Remake. Between the 8-bit graphics, retro sound effects, and simple controls, Mike Mech fits right in alongside classic 80s games.
Addictive gameplay with a simple objective
Like other platformers from the C64 era, Mike Mech offers challenges across many different levels. Work your way from room to room, all while avoiding enemies. With no defense against them, you’ll lose a life and restart the level if you touch an alien.
To make matters more complicated, you’ll be working against the clock. With a time limit for each level, you’ll have to move not only carefully but quickly, too. However, for every 10,000 points scored, you’ll earn an extra life.
Customize your experience
Mike Mech features a total of 70 levels. If you’re a novice, choosing Ship Layout A will guide you through the 35 easiest levels. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, Ship Layout B will allow you to play the 35 most difficult. Choosing Layouts A & B will allow you to play all 70 levels.
Regardless of your skill level, the controls for Mike Mech are responsive and easy to learn. Moving your joystick left and right controls Mike’s movements. Moving it down allows you to teleport, and the fire button will make him jump.
An authentic C64 gaming experience
Though Mike Mech (C64) was not released during the Commodore 64’s height of popularity, the impressive recreation of its iconic style could easily fool you. With accurate 8-bit graphics, music, and sound effects, it’s a game that is both nostalgic and new at the same time.
