Manage Files Visually
Midnight Commander is a free file management tool that allows you to organise and manage all of your system’s files in a visual way, allowing users to delete, shift and copy any file or group of files with a stunning amount of ease.
Feature-Rich Management
Licensed under GNU General Public Licensing arrangement, Midnight Commander offers a handy full-screen text mode application that makes searching for file groups and directory trees easy. Once downloaded, it allows users to search for files, for example, and then run specific commands for them in the sub-shell they have located. Internal viewer and editor options are also included. The programme will function inside an X Window terminal, over SSH connections and all types of remote shells. The file management software has been developed on the most commonly used versatile text interfaces, like Ncurses and S-Lang. It is subject to a team of developers sharing information and the latest ideas can be accessed by simply signing up to email notifications. The developers welcome feedback from users and are looking for people to take part in its ongoing development.
Visual File Identification
Of great use to people who work in a visual way, Midnight Commander is full of useful functions but it currently lacks sufficient documentation to make it of much use to people without a good deal of technical ability already.
