Understand your cat better
MeowTalk is a free lifestyle mobile app that enables you to record and study your cat’s meows. Developed by Akvelon Inc., this cool app basically gives your cat a voice and allows you to understand them a little bit better. It uses machine learning to translate for your feline friend, but you can also train the app itself to recognize a specific meow you’re familiar with.
The feline language for humans
If you’re not used to understanding cats’ various sounds when they’re around humans and not displaying body language, you can try and use MeowTalk to gain some insight into their meows. This app offers nine basic feline intentions—such as hunger and happiness—that translate into human phrases like “I’m hungry” and “I’m happy.” However, each cat is unique and may say their meows a bit differently compared to the general consensus.
Another cool feature of the app is its ability to learn a meow when you record a snippet. Through this, you can train the app by inputting what the meaning of the meow is. You will have to give it 5 – 10 examples of the same sound so it can start recognizing the meow. However, it’s recommended that you teach the app only when you’re absolutely sure of what your cat is telling you when it meows that way.
Additionally, the app sometimes takes a whole day to process the recording. More so, you can easily get inaccurate translations, which you may notice when checking their body language as they say it. The app also does not allow you to edit past recordings and inputs. The app’s concept is great, but it still needs a lot of work and practice for the AI to understand the cats on its own.
For any cat fan
Overall, MeowTalk is a pretty nice app if your hobby involves pets. Whether you’re an owner yourself or just a fan of cats in general, it’s fun to try the app out. However, you should remember that it’s not perfectly working and won’t always give the right answers to the sounds you want to be translated. Still, cat lovers can have fun with it whenever.
