Make your own virtual jack-o’-lantern
Mayor Bones Proudly Presents: Ghost Town’s 999th Annual Pumpkin Festival is a free simulation video game wherein you can carve virtual Halloween pumpkins. Developed by adamgryu, this game is an online server where you can upload your creations and check out other people’s carved works. Take note, however, that this server will not be active all the time and may soon be taken down a few weeks after Halloween.
Come see Ghost Town
As its long title suggests, Mayor Bones Proudly Presents: Ghost Town’s 999th Annual Pumpkin Festival is all about the annual Pumpkin Festival of Ghost Town, an empty world where Mayor Bones wishes to have some visitors for the beloved spooky holiday. Here, you can create your own jack-o’-lantern and have it be displayed at the town’s numerous alternate worlds or servers. You can also go around and check out other cool jack-o’-lanterns made by others.
When you launch the game, you immediately start carving your pumpkin. On the top-left corner are five icons for several actions: New Pumpkin, Save, Load, Visit Festival, and More—which opens up Options, Screenshots, Help, Credits, and Quit. On the bottom-right corner is your carving tools: the Cut Tool for making polygonal cuts, and the Scrape Tool for only making indents on the pumpkin’s skin. You can choose different sizes for your pumpkin and name it.
When visiting the festival, you get more actions by pressing Esc. There’s Place Pumpkin, Toggle Lighting, Go To Designer, Visit Alternate Universe, and Photo Mode. Placing pumpkins can be tricky in a nearly-full server as some spots can’t accommodate certain pumpkin sizes. Toggle Lighting lets you switch between day and night. Meanwhile, the Alternate Universe option lets you pick a server to visit. You can go around voting on your favorite designs.
The pumpkins can’t stay
Mayor Bones Proudly Presents: Ghost Town’s 999th Annual Pumpkin Festival is a great family game to try out if you want to make jack-o’-lanterns without having to physically carve them. Additionally, the servers are filled with tons of cool designs. It’s only too bad that the server might not stay open for long. Plus, the Mac version requires extra installation steps. Nevertheless, this is a fun holiday community game to partake in.
