Lead misfits on a cosmic adventure in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series is an episodic adventure game starring the intergalactic adventures from the Marvel comic and hit 2014 film. In this game, you mainly play as dashing rogue and team leader Peter “Star-Lord” Quill, although you will take control of his teammates at some points.
Make your own bad decisions
If you’ve played any of Telltale’s other adventure games, you’ll be familiar with the basic gameplay of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series. As the game’s story unfolds, you make a series of choices along the way. Although you’re embroiled in a mystery surrounding an ancient artefact called the Eternity Forge, many of your decisions actually relate to your team and their emotions. The Guardians, tough space mercenaries that they are, are a bunch of misfits who need your leadership to sort through their emotional problems as often as they need you to plan strategy. Capturing the feel of source material is Telltale’s specialty, and this game does an excellent job capturing the scruffy irreverence that has attracted so many fans to both the film and the comic series.
Assassins, talking raccoons and a great big tree
If you like story-focused games and the Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series is definitely worth your time. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s a well-executed adventure with good jokes and some surprising emotional weight.
