An Eerie VR Experience that’s Anything But a Game
Manifest 99 is an eerie and ominous VR narrative happening on a train that’s rumbling via the afterlife. On-board with crows and some mysterious travel mates, you are supposed to find out the reason why you’re on the train.
Gameplay
The Manifest 99 is a VR experience that doesn’t need a controller. The game is best experienced standing or sitting. You would just have to look into the crows’ eyes to jump into their bodies, witnessing the world around from their perspective and scale. The world in the game is rich in visuals, thanks to its painterly, striking visual style. You would be moving around and discovering items so that you learn more about the passengers on-board. Manifest 99 is not a game – it’s also not a movie. To be fairly accurate, the title is more of a cross between the two. If you’re on VR for the first time, Manifest 99 shall make for a great experience.
Unique Experience
For VR, locking eyes with another character is a unique way of interaction. Besides the sheer robustness of the mechanics involved with eye contacts, you would also be invariably responding to environments that offer a level of imminent destruction. The constant jostling, breaking and rattling of cars serve as regular reminders of an unsafe environment. The feelings that arise from both the environment and mechanics are Manifest 99’s strongest aspects. The mechanics truly exhibit how effective VR could be when it comes to stirring up the emotions in a player.
