A game save management tool for PC

Ludusavi is a free and open-source game tool that was developed by Matthew Kennerly for computer devices. This utility lets users create backups of the PC game save data. It was written in the Rust programming language and supports cross-platform compatibility. It can detect and is able to pull in data from various game clients, such as Steam or the Epic Games Store. It even works as an extension for game library managers like Playnite.

Do I need Ludusavi?

Cloud computing has become a viable and convenient way to store and manage data, like that from games, online. Despite that, not everyone wants to use it for a couple of reasons. One, there is the question of privacy and security. Another is the possibility of data corruption or loss. The latter is a major concern for gamers whose save data contains all their game progress. This is where a backup tool like Ludusavi comes into play.

Gamers will be able to create local backups of their game save data to their PCs. Run Ludusavi and it will automatically detect game folders from various game clients in its Backup Mode. Click on the preview button to start scanning for saved game data. You can search for a specific game or select multiple ones for backup creation. If you switch machines, you can go over to the Restore Mode to recover game saves.

Ludusavi is a portable program so installation is not needed, it also works cross-platform with other operating systems. There are few considerations if you plan on using this tool, and some things that need improvement, though. For starters, while it can detect duplicates, it’s inconsistent and misidentifies some information. Another is that it lacks a way to delete save data that are no longer needed or come from uninstalled games already—a function that other similar utilities have.

Never lose your game progress again

Ludusavi a life-saver to all gamers out there. It’s a simple and easy-to-use tool to create local backups of your game save data. It supports popular game clients, offers a clean user interface, and just works right out of the box. There are a few things that need some improvement, but they don’t stop it from being a highly recommended and must-have utility.
