Classic shoot ’em up action
Lost Ship is a fast paced vertical scrolling shoot ’em up. The title of the game is pretty much the story – of a Lost Ship. You have to shoot your way through wave after wave of enemy ships, and come out of the other side alive.
Control is either via the mouse or a gamepad if you have one. Mouse control makes movement really easy, but firing with the left mouse button is a bit tiring! Gamepad control is much better. The graphics are fairly standard for a shoot ’em up, as is the techno soundtrack.
Mouse control really takes the fun out of this type of game, and the random feel to the enemy waves make this a very unsubtle game. It’s fast paced, and the large sprites can sometimes make the screen to busy. Unlike the best shoot ’em ups, where you can manage business by knowing how certain enemies will react, in Lost Ship you can’t and sometimes death will come out of the blue, which is pretty irritating.
Despite this, Lost Ship isn’t a lost cause. It doesn’t require installation, and can provide a good few minutes of space-blasting action, even if it lacks the balletic precision of classics like R-Type.
Neither original nor extraordinary, Lost Ship will never the less entertain shoot ’em up fans
