Protect your privacy with this excellent app-locking tool
Lockdown Pro allows you to lock access to apps on your Android device. It can help you prevent people from accessing applications you don’t want anyone to get into.
What can Lockdown Pro do?
Lockdown Pro lets you set up password protection for apps. You can choose to set a classic pin code password, a pattern, or a calculator entry. There are different themes available for the password entry screens, so you can customize to your liking.
You can specify which applications you want to apply password protection to. This includes Android system apps (e.g. Google Play, Dialer/Contacts, Incoming calls, Install/Uninstall, Settings, and Messages), and third-party applications that are installed on your device.
Lockdown Pro is a powerful security tool and it comes with lots of locking options. For instance, you can trigger locking/unlocking based on the location of the phone (e.g. to automatically unlock/lock everything every time you arrive home). You can also unlock/lock apps automatically when connected to WiFi.
You can configure Lockdown Pro to run virtually undetected: you can apply a ‘fake cover’ to locked applications where an error screen is shown rather than a password; you can hide the Lockdown Pro icon from the apps tray; and even toggle the device administrator function to prevent the app from being uninstalled.
How to use Lockdown Pro
Lockdown Pro is very simple to set up and start using. When you first run the app you’ll be prompted to enter a passcode or pattern. Once you’ve done this you’ll need to use this code every time you want to access the app.
Locking applications is as easy as tapping a button next to the app you want to lock from the list in the main menu of Lockdown Pro. You can see at the top of the list the total number of apps that have been locked. There’s no way to automatically select all applications to lock them.
Overall, Lockdown Pro performs great, though it would be nice to have the option to lock the screen via the app.
