Third-party Google camera port
LMC8.2 is a free photography application for mobile made by an indie developer who goes by the name Hasli. It is a third-party port of the Google Camera app that is used in the Pixel line of smartphones by Google and comes as standard in the Google Apps package for the Android OS.
Compared to other camera solutions from the likes of Manual Camera or Open Camera, LMC8.2 is based on the Google Camera, which includes Google-exclusive features developed in-house. It also carries with it the signature image-processing algorithm and style that the company is known for.
Signature “Pixel” look
Samsung is arguably the most popular and recognized name in Android today. However, while not as widely mentioned, Google has been making compelling devices for years now that offer fluid software experiences, thoughtful features, and of course, amazing cameras. The latter has always been coveted by many users but was limited to Pixel devices. That is until camera ports like LMC8.2 started coming out.
This program is basically a port of the Google Camera that lets you try out Pixel-exclusive features on non-Pixel devices. These smartphones have become synonymous with top-class image quality backed by Google’s signature image-processing style. The images they produce have a dramatic, yet natural look to them that boosts contrast higher and manages exposure to draw in as much fine detail as possible in the shot.
What’s more, you get features like HDR+ for better-looking photos and Night Sight, which again, proves itself to be best-in-class when it comes to low-light photography. Now, before proceeding, just be aware that this is an unofficial port, so not every feature will work as intended. Also, with so many camera hardware variations out in the market, it’s not guaranteed to work with all of them.
Class-leading image processing
If you’re a fan of what Google has done with its Pixel devices and want to experience some of its camera processing prowess, then LMC8.2 is worth checking out. It brings all the magic of the Google Camera app for anyone to try out. Just know that it’s not guaranteed to work with all devices. Nevertheless, it’s worth the shot.
