Free 3D simulator game
Developed by Betta Games, Life on Sea puts a fun and thrilling spin on typical civilization-building simulators. It is a free game of building and survival in the oceans combined with gacha game elements. In it, you are a survivor of the apocalypse who has to start a new life on the unforgiving seas.
Farming elements are present, too, as you can purchase plots of arable land and plant different crops on them. While upgrading the ark—a powerful boat that carries your survivors—you can expand the raft. Life on Sea’s overall style is similar to Cookie Run: Kingdom.
Build a new life on a raft
With charming 3D graphics and an intriguing premise, Life on Sea promises hours of grinding and civilization-building. It employs city-building tactics like what you may have seen in most farming simulator games, wherein you can build and upgrade buildings in a given area. You can eventually produce crops and other items, too—some of which can be sold to other survivors and exchanged for coins and more.
This free-to-play game ups the ante with an adventure aspect, in which you can form a team of your most formidable survivors and go up against powerful enemies. You can get more survivors through the gacha and each character comes with a unique design and ability. At the same time, you can enhance these survivors’ damage capabilities by leveling them up or equipping them with artifacts you can find.
However, there are two noticeable weaknesses in the game. First, the matches with the survivors always take too long because of the sprite animations. Even if you speed the match up, it still goes on quite slowly, which can get boring for some players who don’t want to sit down and watch an automated fight. Second, gaining enough experience and resources to upgrade the ark is too troublesome and time-consuming.
May not be for impatient players
Life on Sea perfectly embodies the “Slow and steady wins the race” adage, thanks to its rather time-consuming features. Leveling up to upgrade the ark takes a lot of grinding and patience, while engaging battles with other Survivor teams in the adventure mode takes quite a long time as well. In spite of that, though, the refreshing premise and unique characters may be worth the grind.
