A different take on the word game
Letterpress is a word/puzzle game but with a different spin.
There are plenty of Scrabble clones like Words with Friends but Letterpress brings quite a different style of gameplay. The challenge of the game is to take over the board with your color. Players can create words that are 2 or more letters. The letters you take will assume your color. After using the same tile twice, your color will be locked to it and your opponent cannot claim it. This makes gameplay in Letterpress fast and challenging.
There aren’t any frills to this game. It supports playing with random strangers or your friends in iOS’s Game Center. There’s no Facebook support so you’ll be stuck with playing only iOS users. You can send your friends invites to play.
The free version of Letterpress is a bit limited. You can’t change themes and you can only have two simultaneous games playing at once. If you want these features, it’ll cost $0.99 to upgrade to the full version via an in-app purchase.
Overall, Letterpress is a challenging game that’s addictive but it’s a shame that it relies on Game Center. Hopefully an Android version is in the works.
