Free Software to Create Technical Documents
LaTeX is a typesetting system that has features letting you create scientific and technical documents in the right format.
Means Business
Most modern-day processors can fulfill almost all document requirements. However, there are certain document creation requirements that need special software. Such requirements, for example, could be incorporating special formatting for algorithms or mathematical equations. For such level of control, you must turn to a type of markup language such as LaTeX. LaTeX is a premier system to craft your technical papers and specialised documents. It isn’t a word processor per se. It, in fact, doesn’t want authors to spend too much time worrying about their documents’ appearance but wants them to focus more on what they do best – writing content.
Different Platform Distributions
The tool can be downloaded onto your computer or you may choose to work with your files online. The software is available for Windows, Mac OS and Linux computers. LaTeX isn’t a standalone typesetting system. It’s a document preparation tool running atop TeX typesetting system by Donald E. Knuth. Usually, TeX distributions bundle together all components required for a functional TeX setup. And generally, the distributions add both maintenance utilities and configuration to this. The team behind TeX cannot possibly guarantee that the distributions, including the recent ones, would comprise the latest version of this tool. If you require the latest variant for a specific purpose, you would then have to fetch CTAN and have it installed over your distribution.
