Shoot down flies in Laser Spider Playground
Laser Spider Playground is a free game to play in your browser. In it, you control a laser-shooting spider on a search for flies.
Laser Spider is a spider who shoots webs and lasers
The central concept behind Laser Spider Playground is that it is a game that combines keyboard and mouse controls in an unusual manner. You use the keyboard to move the spider and to shoot lasers in whatever direction the mouse cursor is pointing. Meanwhile, you use the left and right mouse buttons to control the spider’s web, which can be used to hook onto branches and swing around (anybody who has played Worms Armageddon will recognize this as a very similar mechanic to that game’s ninja rope).
Swing around the trees
Laser Spider Playground is really designed to showcase its unusual gameplay and control concept than to offer a full game itself. There is no actual goal or a way of winning: the player is simply left to explore a limited playing field and interact with various elements. The physics are similar to Angry Birds.
A tiny playground
The game does offer a variety of objects and creatures: there are branches to swing from, acorns to be knocked from branches and rolled along the floor, flies that can be temporarily stunned with lasers and even a button that can be pressed to create more flies. Other details in the game include the spider’s built-in parachute, and the setting’s interactivity makes it possible to bounce the tree branches back and forth and tie them together with webbing.
Short but fun
With no goal and a small playing field, Laser Spider Playground lacks replay value. But as a free browser game with an unusual gameplay mechanism, it should be enjoyable while it lasts.
