The strategy-RPG enhanced
The Langrisser franchise is a strategy-RPG game that made its name in the 1990s. And since its developers dropped a mobile version, fans have been clamoring for more. Well, the long wait is over, as remakes of the first two titles of this legendary role-playing series are making a comeback. The new Langrisser I & II games bring everything you love about the games and present it in a better package. Each game has the classic story of good and evil that you know, but with beautiful high-definition visuals, re-orchestrated music, and overall improved gameplay and user experience.
Classic comeback
If you love war games, then Langrisser I & II is for you. As with most SRPGs, this game will have you control armies in a battle. In Langrisser I, you will play as the Ledin, a prince who is forced to flee the kingdom due to an attack by an evil Empire. Once strong enough, you will rally your forces and engage in an epic battle of light and dark to retake your home. Langrisser II, on the other hand, lets you play as Erwin. It still has the battle of good and evil, but you get to decide which side you will align with.
Gameplaywise, Langrisser I & II are both simple strategy games. It is up to you to decide where you want to place your troops to win the battle. Note, however, that the gameplay has the system of affinities. Just like the Game of the Generals, a certain class can beat a certain class. Moreover, every time a general reaches level 10, he can earn a promotion.
Langrisser I & II’s graphics are an upgrade of Der Langrisser’s graphics. There have been changes on the faces, but that’s about it. The music, however, is a major pull as they can really amp you up. Moreover, it has simple controls that require little to no learning curve. However, it is an import game and is Japanese. You’ll probably have a hard time understanding the spells if you don’t know the language.
