Take A Look At The Human Mind… in VR
InMind 2 is a game about the human brain. From the moment it’s pitched, it’s engaging in a way not many games are. You indirectly control the destiny of a teenage, John, as he becomes an adult, by peeking right into his brain and moving around even the smallest of molecules.
A Fully Featured Brain
InMind 2 has some educational themes in that you learn about how specific changes in the brain can affect a person. The game does not provide too much guidance as to exactly how moving this or that synapse will affect John, but by playing it more than once, you can get a good idea of it. The way that your decisions only indirectly, but palpably, shape the course of a real-life story makes the game quite fun!
Is This Reality?
From the moment you’re about to get it, the game’s premise plumbs deep. Impressively, tantalizingly and uncomfortably deep. ‘It is well known by scientists that emotions are nothing other than hormones affecting the human body — and especially the brain,’ the developers write. This is scientifically true to a greater or lesser extent, but from this phrase right into the gameplay, it’s hard to argue that it doesn’t oversimplify some very complex bits of life. Before picking InMind 2 up for you or yours, think about whether you’ll enjoy these themes… but remember that it’s mostly just a quirky little strategy game, too!
